Weight Loss Acupuncture

Obesity is mainly caused by excessive food intake than consumption of the energy, even though it could be caused by genetics, medical conditions(arthritis, inflammation, indigestion, chronic fatigue syndrome, and so on), or mental illness.

As I mentioned in earlier blog, counting on one-food-diet (eating only one type of food- such as bananas) could help to lose weight temporarily but for long run, it actually would be more harmful for your body.

Most important thing when it comes to lose weight is to find out what’s causing it rather than just to starve yourself and excessive workout. In oriental medicine perspective, gaining unnecessary weight would be related to many organs including, the stomach, the kidneys, the liver, the spleen, the gall bladder, the heart even the lungs.

In western medicine, basic approach to weight loss is to promote metabolism. but in oriental medicine, we see patients’ body as a whole. That being said, our approach is not only to promote metabolism but also to solve other issues or conditions that patient has.

For example, if there’s an imbalance between the lungs and the kidneys where the lungs should descend energy flow and the kidneys should grasp it and metabolize it, then it could cause weight gaining.

Oriental medicine’s approach is different on every individuals even if patient’s reason for visit to our clinic is the same.

To lose weight by acupuncture requires thorough intake to differentiate the patterns.
